Ok, so of course it would happen to me. After taking the kids to school today I decided to go back to bed, I am on vacation right now so this seemed acceptable. I guess that the internet thought I should have been paying closer attention. When I did get up I found that I had hundreds of messages in my Gmail inbox, and hundreds in my outbox. My account had been hacked and had been sending out one message after another since about 8:45am, it was now 10:45am.

I quickly changed my password and locked down my account from any other access. The outgoing messages stopped. This wasn’t coming from my computer, it wasn’t coming from my Android phone, or my iPad, I was using a very secure password. The only thing I can surmise is that one of the web applications that uses access to my Gmail account was compromised and allowed someone to initiate a massive string of junk to be sent from me.

I am going to be much more careful of what I allow to access my Gmail account moving forward, keep in mind that I am already fairly paranoid.
